In January of 2026, Participatory Culture Foundation (PCF), the nonprofit behind Amara, updated the legal documents that govern all of its associated websites, software offerings, and professional services (including Amara). These changes are now reflected in the Terms of Service.
The update corresponds to the Payment Terms section:
Unused Service Credits. Unused Service Credits that are older than 24 months from the time of payment will expire and can no longer be redeemed for Professional Services.
